【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversthesampling,forthedeterminationofchemicalcomposition(Note1)ofnonferrousmetalsandalloysincastformforremeltingormechanicalworking.1.1.1RefertoPracticeE255forcopperandcopperalloys.Note1--Theselectionofcorrectportionsofmaterialandthepreparationofarepresentativesamplefromsuchportionsarenecessaryprerequisitestoeveryanalysis,theanalysisbeingofnovalueunlessthesampleactuallyrepresentstheaveragecompositionofthematerialfromwhichitwasselected.1.2Whenagreeduponbetweenthepurchaserandthemanufacturer,theheatsampleandanalysismaybeacceptedasrepresentativeofthecompositionofthemetal.Insuchcases,eachlotmustbeproperlyidentifiedwiththeheatsfromwhichitwasmade.1.3Thispracticeisintendedtocoverthegeneralprinciplesofsamplingapplicabletononferrousmetalsincastformandisnotintendedtosupersedeorreplaceexistingspecificationrequirementsforsamplingofaparticularmaterial.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
