【摘要】:Thecompressivestrengthorcrush-extrusionresistanceofagasketmaterialisamajorfactorwithregardtotheselectionofagivenmaterialforuseinaparticularsealingapplication.Thesignificanceofthetestmethodisbased,inpart,ontheassumptionthatamaterial,onceithasbeencrushedorextruded,willnolongerfunctionaseffectivelyasaseal.Thisassumptioncanonlybeusedasaguide,however,sinceexactyieldorfailurepointsaredifficulttodefineforgasketmaterials(whichareusuallyviscoelasticinnature).Twoormorematerialscanbecomparedtodeterminedifferencesintheirresistancetocompressivestress.Asampleofmaterialcanbecomparedtoanestablishedstandardorpreviouslydeterminedcharacteristicsonoriginallotsofthesamematerial,forqualityassurancepurposes.See6.2fordiscussionofspecimenareaandgeometryeffects.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofcompressivestrengthcharacteristics(crush-extrusionresistance)ofgasketmaterialsatelevatedtemperature.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
